Just for the record, we do try to discourage editorializing in FPPs (although i definitely acknowledge it's not consistent, and we're actively in the process of revising the posting guidelines). For future reference, though, it's generally better to make the post with just the link and some description of what's in the link, and then say your more personal piece in an early comment.

Folks, i am not deleting anything at this point, but i would really like it if everyone in here would remember that there are, in fact, Ukrainian MeFites, and MeFites with Ukrainian friends and family, and behave accordingly. Too many people come into these threads treating them like abstract thought experiments about The War and it's not cool at all.

Folks, seriously. It's not that you're not allowed to make jokes about pens. Jokes about pens are fine. Jokes about fucking someone's wife, otoh, are unpleasant and at least arguably sexist. And when we've removed those, and then someone makes a joke about the mod note, well, that doesn't help. I haven't called anyone by name because it was all pretty clearly jokes made inappropriately, rather than with malice. But if you feel strongly about any of this, please take it to MeTa, or the contact form, or the Board, or the MOC, rather than poking fun at mod actions here in the damn thread.

A small language note about this comment: genitalia and gender are not the same thing. Please try to keep that distinction in mind in future comments. Gender identity and anatomy are not interchangeable, and that conflation can make the discussion less welcoming to trans and nonbinary people.
