Several deleted, a couple for being fairly insensitive about a kid's trauma, a few for not answering the question, and a few for getting into a back-and-forth with other users/meta-discussion about the question. Meta-discussion needs to go to MeTa; clarification questions are okay but folks do need to be sensitive when the question involves a kid; and while personal anecdotes are sometimes okay (and i've left a few of them up), there does need to be some kind of throughline to an answer.
I did leave up a few answers that were much more focused on parenting advice than legal/bureaucratic next steps; all of the ones i left up are from before the Asker clarified that they are not looking for parenting advice.
