Hi, folks! There's a weird dynamic in here with some of the answers, and i don't love it: several folks have validated the Asker's right to say no, but then gone on to point out that she could in fact say yes instead. This seems to me to be a kind of low-key interrogation of the premise of the question.

I'm leaving all of those up for now, but please note that "well, you could say yes" is not an answer to the question "how can i say no in a way that won't have negative effects on me/my property".

Folks, Ask is not a good place to encourage people to violate the law (many jurisdictions require two-party consent for audio recording) or their employment agreement (which may also prohibit recording, for privacy and security reasons). Just a reminder: while the right-wing politics machine is global and all of these things are interconnected, we would definitely like to keep things in this thread focused on Hungary and the Hungarian election rather than recentering it around US politics and elections. You can definitely mention US-related stuff -- JD Vance was particularly important in this election, and that's definitely on-topic! -- but be mindful of the space you're taking up, please.

Just a note to reiterate what I said in the other related MeTa thread: please do not imply that other members are mentally unwell. Saying "you need therapy" is not generally gonna be received well, and it very quickly crosses over into ableism/sanism.

Hey, a quick note: it's really not appropriate to imply that other members are mentally unstable or tell them to "get help". If you're genuinely concerned about someone's welfare, that's certainly something you can convey in a compassionate way, but please do it without crossing the line into ableism/sanism.

A personal note: I am still in training and this is my first semi-independent mod note; i do welcome feedback but also please bear with me while i get the hang of things!
