Folks, when someone makes a thoughtful post like this, the chances of it being an advertisement or Pepsi Blue incident are small. Nonzero, but small. And in any case, the appropriate thing to do if you think something is an advertisement is to flag it with a note or use the contact form, not publicly accuse the poster of nefarious intent. Please do better!

Just for the record, we do try to discourage editorializing in FPPs (although i definitely acknowledge it's not consistent, and we're actively in the process of revising the posting guidelines). For future reference, though, it's generally better to make the post with just the link and some description of what's in the link, and then say your more personal piece in an early comment.

Folks, i am not deleting anything at this point, but i would really like it if everyone in here would remember that there are, in fact, Ukrainian MeFites, and MeFites with Ukrainian friends and family, and behave accordingly. Too many people come into these threads treating them like abstract thought experiments about The War and it's not cool at all.

And when we've removed those, and then someone makes a joke about the mod note, well, that doesn't help. I haven't called anyone by name because it was all pretty clearly jokes made inappropriately, rather than with malice. This question has gotten substantive answers, so i am not going to remove it (especially since it's clear that there is substantive disagreement about "chatfilter" that points to a need to revise our guidelines about it); however, questions in Ask really do need to be more specific and detailed than this in the future, please.

A couple deleted. One was advocating a course of action that directly contradicted the Asker's requirements, and the other was part of a back-and-forth between users.
